Devdoss Day....

St. Valentine has nothing to do with romance. He was not even a Bachelor degree holder in romance making. But he was having an advance Masters Degree in spiritual love showering. He showered spiritual love and slowly it mutated into lovers day. It was then marketed from France to UK and from there to the rest of the world through our dear British conquerors.

I remember the day me and NSS (My CECRI friend) created when we were undergrads. It was called as Devdoss day, a day for the love losers or singles. For my non-Indian friends, Devdoss was a mysterical love losing character who lost his life after losing his heart. We tried celebrating the day on Feb-15. Only 5 people joined us and celebrated the day. In the Devdoss day, People who lost their love can wear black dresses and can exchange their wishes like “Happy single life” or “Happy singlet” Or “Let’s lose more” or they can exchange a book like “Men are from Mars and women are from Venus”.Unfortunately, the day was not marketed properly and could not withstand the air even inside CECRI.

Moral of the story: colorful ad's make better marketing (especially, if women do it...)

As Sarvesh pointed out, there were no women in our Devdoss team and hence may be a big failure..
